Switch from TickTick
TickTick does a lot in one app: lists, tags, priorities, repeats, habits and a focus timer. The importer brings over the task side of that, so your lists are waiting in Thendoo when you arrive.
Make a backup
Section titled “Make a backup”On ticktick.com, open Settings → Backup & Import and choose Generate backup. On some accounts it sits under Account instead. TickTick downloads a .csv file.
Bring it in
Section titled “Bring it in”- In Thendoo, open Settings → Import and pick TickTick.
- Upload the .csv. It is stored encrypted and deleted when the import is done.
- Check the preview: counts and a few example tasks. Nothing is added yet.
- Under Where should it go?, pick a Space, or make a new one. You can put your lists in a folder inside it.
- Under Statuses, check which Kanban columns mean done.
- Choose Import.
What comes over
Section titled “What comes over”- Folders and lists keep their names. Each list becomes a Thendoo List.
- Kanban columns become the statuses of that List.
- Tasks and subtasks keep their nesting.
- Checklist items become the task’s checklist.
- Tags become tags, and priorities become priorities.
- Repeating tasks keep their repeat rule when Thendoo supports every part of it. A rule it can’t copy exactly is listed in the report, and its wording goes into the task’s notes.
- Completed and archived tasks come over as completed, if you choose to bring completed items.
TickTick habits and focus records are not part of the backup import. In Thendoo you set habits up again as “when X, then Y” routines, which usually takes a few minutes.
Times and time zones
Section titled “Times and time zones”All-day tasks stay all-day. Tasks with a time keep the time zone they had in TickTick. A 9:00 task set while you lived in Berlin stays 9:00 Berlin time, even if you’ve moved.
Preview, then decide
Section titled “Preview, then decide”After the import, a short report lists what didn’t come over exactly. Open tasks with old dates wait under Carried over, or you can clear their dates during the import. If it doesn’t look right, choose Undo in Import history within 30 days. Importing a newer backup later updates what you already have and adds only what’s new.
