Switch from Linear

Linear is fast and tidy, and people who leave it usually want the same tidiness on the other side. The importer is meant to keep your structure, not flatten it into one long list.

Linear can export issues as a CSV file. Linear describes this in Exporting data. You’d upload that file to Thendoo. A sign-in import through Linear’s API is planned later, for anything the CSV leaves out.

In Linear In Thendoo
Team A Space, or a folder in one
Project A List
Issue and sub-issue Task and subtask
Label Tag
Workflow state Status, matched in the preview

Cycles and estimates don’t have a direct match in the first plan. They can come over as custom fields, or you can skip them.

If your team keeps working in Linear, importing isn’t the right move. A live connection that keeps Linear in charge of issues and puts yours on Today is planned on demand. The importer suits personal projects and archives.

Nothing is saved until you confirm the preview. Imported issues keep their Linear id, so a second import updates them instead of adding copies. Undo the full import from Import history on Settings → Import within 30 days. The CSV is deleted once the import is done.

You don’t have to wait for the dedicated importer. Thendoo’s general CSV file importer already reads the issue CSV that Linear exports.

  1. In Thendoo, open Settings → Import and pick CSV file.
  2. Upload the .csv. It is stored encrypted and deleted when the import is done.
  3. In Match the columns, tell Thendoo which column holds the title, notes, List, status, done, due date, start date, priority and tags. It suggests a match from the column names, and only the title is needed. Point List at the project or team column, so issues land in separate Lists.
  4. Keep the other columns as fields on their List, or leave them out. Under Statuses, mark which values mean done.
  5. Check the preview, then choose Import.

The rows come in flat: sub-issues arrive as separate tasks, and labels come in as tags when you match them to tags. Running the same file again updates rows already imported, as long as their titles haven’t changed. You can undo the import for 30 days from Import history on the same page.
