Switch from monday.com
Many teams run their work on monday.com boards. Whether you should import them depends on who uses the board.
Move everything, or keep it there and sync
Section titled “Move everything, or keep it there and sync”- Move everything to Thendoo suits boards only you use, like a personal planning board. The import copies it once, and then Thendoo owns it.
- Keep it in Monday and sync suits team boards. Monday stays in charge, and Thendoo plans your time around the items assigned to you. That live connection is also planned.
You choose per import, so you can move a personal board and keep a team board synced.
From an Excel export
Section titled “From an Excel export”The first version reads the Excel file that monday.com exports for a board. An API import comes after, for data the file lacks.
How a board maps
Section titled “How a board maps”- The board lands in a Space you pick.
- Groups become sections of a List.
- Items become tasks, and subitems become subtasks.
- Status and date columns fill Thendoo’s status and date. Because every board has its own columns, you point Thendoo at the right ones in the preview.
- Other columns become custom fields, or you skip them.
Safe by design
Section titled “Safe by design”Nothing is written until you confirm the preview. A second import of the same board updates items instead of copying them. Within 30 days, Import history on Settings → Import can undo the whole batch.
What works today
Section titled “What works today”Thendoo’s general Excel / Google Sheets importer reads .xlsx files, including the one monday.com exports for a board.
- In Thendoo, open Settings → Import and pick Excel / Google Sheets.
- Upload the .xlsx. If it has several sheets, pick the one with your items.
- In Match the columns, point title at the item name, status at your status column and due at your date column. Only the title is needed. The importer expects one header row on top: if the export has title rows above the column names, delete them first.
- Keep other columns as fields, or leave them out. Under Statuses, mark which values mean done.
- Check the preview, then choose Import.
This route is flat. Groups are not turned into sections and subitems are not placed under their item. monday.com’s help doesn’t describe the export’s layout, so the dedicated reader waits until it can be checked against real exports. Dates come in as dates, and you can undo the import for 30 days from Import history on the same page.
