The short answer

TickTick and Thendoo overlap more than most pairs: both combine tasks, a habit tracker and a Pomodoro timer. TickTick adds phone apps, location reminders, an Eisenhower Matrix and sharing. Thendoo runs in the browser for one person, but adds a guided morning plan and evening shutdown, timed routines, and a money module, all feeding one Today timeline.

Our take

Choose TickTick if…

  • You want tasks, habits and a timer on your phone and watch, not only in a browser.
  • You like sorting work in an Eisenhower Matrix or need reminders when you arrive somewhere.
  • You share some lists with family or coworkers.

Choose Thendoo if…

  • You want a guided ten-minute morning plan and an evening shutdown built into the app.
  • You want routines that walk you through timed steps, full screen, one at a time.
  • You want bills and budgets on the same Today screen as your tasks.

Two apps that try to hold your whole day

TickTick started as a to-do list and grew a habit tracker, a Pomodoro timer, a calendar and an Eisenhower Matrix. Thendoo started from the day plan and grew outward into tasks, habits, routines, focus, money and life admin. On a feature checklist they look close. In use, they lead with different things.

Where they differ

Habits. Both track habits. Thendoo writes each one as an implementation intention: When a cue, Then I will an action, with an optional Tiny first step. Its default streak rule, Allow one missed day a week, keeps a streak going after an off day, and Skip never counts against you. A day you didn’t do shows as a grey Not done. TickTick’s habit tracker leans on statistics and feedback; the free plan caps you at 5 habits.

Rituals. Thendoo has three guided screens: Plan my day (look at today, pick a Top 3, give each a time), Close the day (tick off, move the rest to tomorrow, write one line), and a Weekly review. TickTick offers daily review reminders and leaves the method to you.

Routines. Thendoo routines are step lists with a countdown per step that you run full screen. When a step’s time runs out, it waits for you instead of jumping ahead.

Reach. TickTick runs on phones and desktops, supports location reminders on iOS and lets you share lists. Thendoo is a browser app for one person, and its reminders only pop up while a tab is open.

Money. Thendoo has a full money module with CSV bank imports, budgets and bill detection. If you budget elsewhere already, that may not matter to you.

Which to pick

If most of your capturing happens on a phone, or you share lists, TickTick fits today. If you plan at a desk and want the plan, the habits and the bills on one screen, with gentle wording when a day goes sideways, Thendoo is worth a try.

Moving from TickTick to Thendoo

  1. 1In TickTick on the web, open Settings → Account → Backup & Import and generate a backup. It downloads as a .csv file.
  2. 2In Thendoo, open Settings → Import, choose TickTick and upload the file. The preview shows your folders, lists, tasks and tags before anything is saved, and you pick the Space each part lands in.
  3. 3Import. Kanban columns become statuses, subtasks and checklist items stay with their task, and repeat rules come over when Thendoo can match them exactly; the report lists any it could not.
  4. 4Recreate each habit on the Habits tab as a When/Then pair, for example When 'After coffee', Then I will 'take my vitamins'. Habits and past streaks are not in the import.
  5. 5Connect Google Calendar under Connections so your events appear on Today.

Questions

Will my TickTick habit streaks move to Thendoo?

No. The TickTick importer brings tasks, not habits, so habits start fresh in Thendoo. The web app only checks off today, so your Thendoo history starts on the day you add each habit.

Which one works without the internet?

TickTick's phone and desktop apps work offline. Thendoo opens Today, the Inbox and Tasks offline after one sync, and captured items wait to sync; most other screens need a connection.

Does Thendoo have an Eisenhower Matrix?

No. Thendoo uses priority (Urgent, High, Normal, Low) and a Board view you can group by priority instead.
