Linear and Thendoo integration (planned)
Thendoo plans a Linear importer for teams, projects and issues, and a later live link for issues assigned to you. Neither is built. See the design here.
How often: Not syncing yet. An import and a later live connection are planned.
What syncs
- Planned import: teams, projects and issuesInto Thendoo
- Planned import: labelsInto Thendoo
- Planned live link: status and dates of issues assigned to youTwo-way
Set it up
- 1There is no Linear importer or connection yet. Linear is not in Connections or in the grid on the Import page.
- 2If you can export your Linear work as CSV, the general CSV file importer in Settings, then Import, brings it in today as flat rows: you match the title, status, due date and other columns yourself, and the rest become fields.
- 3Meanwhile, capture the Linear issues you'll pick up soon: press Ctrl K (⌘K on a Mac), type the issue ID and title with a date, and press Enter.
- 4Keep the issue link in the task notes, so the discussion stays in Linear.
Good to know
- Linear is not available in Thendoo today. Nothing is read from or written to your workspace.
- Cycles, roadmaps and estimates are not part of the planned import.
- Copied issues are not linked back. Close them in Linear when you finish.
Linear is planned for Thendoo, not available. This page explains the current design and how to keep Linear issues in view until it ships. The details may change.
Built for the people who ship
Linear is where many product teams track their issues. The issues are the team’s. Your day is yours. The planned live connection follows that split. Issues assigned to you would appear in Thendoo, status and dates would sync both ways, and Linear would keep owning everything else. Thendoo’s job is to show the issue next to your meetings and routines, so you can see when it actually fits.
Importing from Linear
If you want a copy instead, the Linear importer is in the second wave. It starts from Linear’s CSV export, then may add an API import where the file lacks data. Each team can land in a Space you choose. Projects become Lists, issues become tasks, and labels become tags.
Re-run without worry
Each issue keeps its Linear ID, so a second import only brings over what changed. Nothing is duplicated. One click removes the whole import for 30 days. Open issues with old dates show as “Carried over”.
Meanwhile
Keep triage and planning in Linear. When you sit down to work, capture the issue you’re starting with its ID in the title, and give it a block on Today. A focus session on that task helps you get started. Close it in Linear when it ships.
Troubleshooting
- I can't find Linear in Thendoo.
- That is expected. A Linear importer is planned for the second wave of importers, and a live link comes later. Capture the issues you're working on for now.
- Will each Linear team become its own Space?
- The plan lets you choose. In the preview you'd pick a Space per team, or put several teams in one Space, before anything is saved.
- My team uses Linear daily. Is importing the right choice?
- Probably not. The planned live connection keeps Linear as the owner and only places your issues on your day. Importing suits personal or finished projects.
