Jira and Thendoo integration (planned)
Jira is not connected to Thendoo yet. Read how importing issues and a later live link for issues assigned to you are planned, and how to plan Jira work today.
How often: Not syncing yet. An import and a later live connection are planned.
What syncs
- Planned import: projects, issues and sub-tasksInto Thendoo
- Planned import: issue statusesInto Thendoo
- Planned live link: status and dates of issues assigned to youTwo-way
Set it up
- 1There is no Jira importer or connection yet. Jira is not in Connections or in the grid on the Import page.
- 2If you can export your Jira work as CSV, the general CSV file importer in Settings, then Import, brings it in today as flat rows: you match the title, status, due date and other columns yourself, and the rest become fields.
- 3Meanwhile, capture the issues you'll work on this week as tasks: press Ctrl K (⌘K on a Mac), type the issue key and a short title with a date, and press Enter.
- 4Paste the issue link into the task notes, so the full history stays one click away in Jira.
Good to know
- Jira is not available in Thendoo today. Nothing is read from or written to your Jira site.
- Sprints, boards, workflows and story points are not part of the planned import.
- Copied issues don't stay in step with Jira. Move the issue in Jira when you finish.
Jira is planned for Thendoo, not available. This page explains the current design and how to keep Jira work visible on your day until it ships. The details may change.
Jira owns the issue, Thendoo owns your time
In most teams, Jira is the shared record of what is being built. Thendoo is not trying to change that. The planned live connection would bring issues assigned to you into Thendoo, and sync status and dates both ways. Everything else, such as the description, comments and links, would stay in Jira. Thendoo would add the one thing Jira doesn’t: a slot on your actual day, between meetings and the rest of your life.
Importing a project
Sometimes you want a copy instead, for a side project or a project that has wrapped up. The Jira importer is in the second wave. It starts from a CSV export of issues, then may add an API import where the file leaves things out. Projects are meant to become Lists, issues become tasks, and sub-tasks stay under their parent issue.
Jira workflows can have many statuses. The preview is meant to list each one so you can match it to a Thendoo status before anything is saved.
Safe to re-run
Each issue remembers its Jira key, so importing again updates instead of duplicating. The whole batch can be undone for 30 days. Issues with past due dates arrive as “Carried over”.
Meanwhile
At the start of the day, look at your Jira board and capture the two or three issues you’ll touch, with the key in the title. Place them on Today next to your meetings. Update Jira when you’re done.
Troubleshooting
- I can't find Jira in Connections.
- That is expected. A Jira importer is planned for the second wave of importers, and a live link for assigned issues comes later. Capture this week's issues by hand for now.
- Will my custom Jira workflow statuses map?
- That is the plan. The preview is meant to list each Jira status so you can map it to a Thendoo status. Nothing is written until you confirm.
- Should I import Jira or connect it?
- If your team works in Jira, the planned live connection fits better, because Jira stays the owner. Importing suits a personal or finished project you want to keep in Thendoo.
