ClickUp and Thendoo integration

Bring the ClickUp tasks assigned to you into your Thendoo day. Completing, reopening or rescheduling them in Thendoo updates ClickUp too.

How often: Every 5 minutes for changes, plus a full pass at least every 6 hours

What syncs

  • Tasks and subtasks assigned to youInto Thendoo
  • Completing and reopening a taskTwo-way
  • Status (any status that exists in that list)Two-way
  • Due dateTwo-way

Set it up

  1. 1In ClickUp, open your avatar, then Settings, then Apps, and copy your API token. It starts with pk_.
  2. 2In Thendoo, open Settings, then Connections, paste it into ClickUp personal API token and choose Connect ClickUp.
  3. 3Under Choose Spaces, pick a Thendoo Space for a ClickUp workspace, space, folder or list. The most specific choice wins.
  4. 4Your assigned tasks appear within a few minutes. Plan them into your day from the To schedule tray on Today or from Plan my day.
Connect ClickUp

Good to know

  • Title, description, priority and estimate stay owned by ClickUp. Thendoo says "That part belongs to the tool this task comes from. Change it there."
  • Thendoo uses a personal API token for now. Signing in with ClickUp (OAuth) is planned for the public app.
  • Thendoo checks for changes about every five minutes; it does not use ClickUp webhooks yet. A task that was unassigned or deleted in ClickUp can take up to six hours to disappear.
  • When you complete a task in Thendoo, ClickUp moves it to the list's closed status, or else to a done status.
  • You can change a synced task's due date from Thendoo, but removing the date has to happen in ClickUp.

The external tool owns the task, Thendoo owns the time

Your team plans work in ClickUp, and that should not change. Thendoo pulls in only the tasks assigned to you and asks a different question: when will you do this today? You can give a synced task a Space, a project, an energy level and tags in Thendoo without touching the task in ClickUp.

When you act on a task in Thendoo, the change goes to ClickUp first. Your local copy only updates after ClickUp accepts it, so the two never disagree about whether something is done.

Why this helps on busy days

If you work across several workspaces or companies, your assigned tasks are spread over many lists. Thendoo puts them in one tray, next to your meetings and routines. You decide what fits today, and the rest waits without nagging. A ClickUp task whose date has passed keeps that date, because ClickUp owns it. It shows as “Carried over” until you move it.

How statuses map

Every ClickUp list can have its own statuses. Thendoo reads the statuses of each list before it writes one, so it only ever sets a status that exists there. Completing a task picks the list’s closed status first and falls back to a done status. To reopen a task, pick one of the list’s open statuses.

Sync now, or move in later

The connection is for people who keep their team in ClickUp. If you would rather move your ClickUp work into Thendoo for good, use the ClickUp importer in Settings, then Import. It reads ClickUp’s task CSV export, from Settings, then Imports/Exports, or from a List or Table view with all columns. ClickUp Spaces become Spaces, with their folders and Lists, and each List keeps the statuses its tasks use. Tasks keep their subtasks, priorities, tags, checklists, estimates and due and start dates, and other columns become fields. Comments don’t come over, attachments are kept as links in the notes, and assignees are kept as a field.

You see a preview first and map each ClickUp Space to a Thendoo Space. Running it again updates what came over before instead of doubling it, and you can undo the whole import for 30 days. After a move, Thendoo owns the copy and nothing syncs back. If you also keep the connection on, choose one path per Space so the same work doesn’t show twice.

Security

Your token is stored encrypted, apart from your other data, and never written to logs. To disconnect, choose Disconnect in Connections: Thendoo stops syncing and removes what it copied, and nothing changes in ClickUp. You can also delete or regenerate the token in ClickUp.

Troubleshooting

Connecting ClickUp fails right after I paste the token.
Check that you copied the whole token, starting with pk_, with no spaces at either end. If you regenerated it in ClickUp, the old one stops working, so paste the new one.
A task I was assigned in ClickUp isn't in Thendoo yet.
Press Sync now on the ClickUp connection. Thendoo only brings in tasks assigned to you, so check the assignee in ClickUp too.
Thendoo won't let me rename a ClickUp task.
That is on purpose: ClickUp owns the title, description, priority and estimate. Change them in ClickUp and the update arrives on the next sync. In Thendoo you can still set the Space, project, energy, tags and type.
Tasks land in the wrong Space.
Open Choose Spaces and add a rule at a more specific level, such as the folder or list. A list rule beats a space rule, which beats a workspace rule.
I want to leave ClickUp and bring everything into Thendoo.
The connection above keeps ClickUp in charge, so it is not a move. To move, export your tasks from ClickUp as CSV with all columns, then open Settings, then Import, and pick ClickUp. Your Spaces, folders, Lists, statuses, tasks, subtasks, tags, checklists and custom columns come over, and Thendoo owns the copy.
