The short answer

ClickUp is a team work platform with many views, docs, whiteboards, automations, AI add-ons and apps for every device. Thendoo is a personal day planner that runs in the browser. They are not really rivals: Thendoo can pull the ClickUp tasks assigned to you onto your Today timeline, so ClickUp keeps owning the task and Thendoo helps you decide when to do it.

Our take

Choose ClickUp if…

  • You run projects with a team and need assignees, docs, whiteboards and dashboards.
  • You want Gantt charts, sprint reporting or AI built into your project tool.
  • You need the same tool on phones and desktops.

Choose Thendoo if…

  • Your team already lives in ClickUp and you want your assigned tasks next to your meetings and personal life.
  • You want a calm personal plan with habits, routines and bills alongside work.
  • You juggle several companies or roles and want each one as its own Space.

Different jobs, same person

ClickUp is where a team plans and tracks work: projects, assignees, docs, whiteboards, dashboards and more than fifteen views. Thendoo is where one person decides what today looks like. If your team uses ClickUp, the real question is less “which one?” and more “do I want a personal layer on top?”

How they fit together

Thendoo’s rule is that the external tool owns the task and Thendoo owns the time. After you connect ClickUp with a personal token, the tasks assigned to you show up in Thendoo, filed under whichever Space you mapped them to. You drag them from the To schedule tray into free slots on Today, next to your Google Calendar meetings. When you finish one, Thendoo marks it done in ClickUp, and status or due-date changes go back too. Sync runs every five minutes; there are no webhooks, so changes are not instant.

Where they differ on their own

Scale. ClickUp handles teams, permissions and reporting. Thendoo is for one person and has no sharing.

Personal life. Thendoo adds When/Then habits, step-by-step routines, a focus timer, bills, budgets and renewal reminders. These sit next to work, not in it.

Planning. Thendoo’s Plan my day asks you to pick a Top 3 and gives each one a time. Its Close the day moves what’s left to tomorrow, labelled Carried over.

Devices and AI. ClickUp has apps on every platform and paid AI plans. Thendoo runs in a browser (and installs on a phone’s home screen) and uses AI in one place only: notes and suggested tasks from a recording, with an AI service connected.

Which to use

For running team projects, ClickUp is the tool built for that. For seeing your ClickUp work, your other job, your kids’ schedule and your rent on one timeline, add Thendoo on top. If you are a solo user choosing one tool, compare how many of ClickUp’s team features you would really use.

Moving from ClickUp to Thendoo

  1. 1You don't need to leave ClickUp. In ClickUp, open your avatar, then Settings, Apps, API Token, and copy your personal token (it starts with pk_).
  2. 2In Thendoo, open Connections, add ClickUp and paste the token. Thendoo stores it encrypted.
  3. 3Use Choose Spaces to map each ClickUp workspace, space, folder or list to a Thendoo Space. The most specific choice wins.
  4. 4Wait a few minutes for the first sync, then drag ClickUp tasks from the To schedule tray onto Today. Titles and notes stay owned by ClickUp; edit those there.
  5. 5Add your personal tasks, habits and bills in Thendoo directly. They stay in Thendoo and never go to ClickUp.

Questions

Does Thendoo copy all of my team's ClickUp tasks?

No. It reads only tasks assigned to you, across all your workspaces, including subtasks.

If I complete a ClickUp task in Thendoo, does ClickUp know?

Yes. Thendoo writes back completion, reopening, status and due date. It does not change the title or notes, which belong to ClickUp.

Does Thendoo use ClickUp OAuth?

Not today. It connects with a personal API token that you paste in, and stores it encrypted. Disconnecting removes what Thendoo copied.

Give your brain one place to look.

Set up your first Today in about five minutes. Connect a calendar, add three things, start a focus session.
