Our take

Choose Trello if…

  • You think in cards moving across columns, and you share those boards with other people.
  • You want apps on your phone and desktop, and Power-Ups that link boards to 200+ other tools.
  • You need Calendar, Timeline or Dashboard views of a team's work.

Choose Thendoo if…

  • You want your tasks placed on the day, next to your meetings, habits and bills.
  • Unfinished cards feel heavy, and you want them shown as Carried over instead.
  • You want your cards to land on a calm daily plan, not only on a board.

Who each one is for

Trello is a board. Every piece of work is a card, and cards move from one list to the next as they progress. It is easy to learn, it works the same for one person or a whole team, and Atlassian has added an Inbox, a Planner, automation and AI on top over the years. If you like seeing work as columns, Trello does that very well.

Thendoo is a day. Its home screen, Today, puts your Google Calendar meetings, your time blocks, your Top 3 today, your habits and the bills due this week on one timeline. Its question is not “which column is this card in?” but “when, today, will I do it?” It is calm by design, and an optional ADHD mode can show fewer things at once.

Where they genuinely differ

Shape of the work. Trello is great for work that flows through stages: ideas, doing, done. Thendoo is better when the hard part is fitting work around meetings, school runs and errands.

Time. Trello’s Planner can put cards on a calendar, and paid plans let you drag cards into time slots. In Thendoo, time blocks are the default way to plan, and Close the day moves anything unfinished to tomorrow as Carried over.

Beyond tasks. Thendoo adds habits, timed routines, a focus timer and money. Trello leaves those to Power-Ups or other apps.

People and devices. Trello is ahead here. It has phone and desktop apps and is built for sharing. Thendoo is one person, in a browser.

When each is the better choice

Choose Trello for shared boards, client projects and anything that moves through stages with other people. Choose Thendoo if your boards are fine but your days still fall apart, and you want one calm place that shows what fits. Many people will end up using both: the team board in Trello, and the personal plan in Thendoo, copying across only the cards they will touch this week.

Moving from Trello to Thendoo

  1. 1In Trello, open the board menu → Print, export and share → Export as JSON, for each board you want to move.
  2. 2In Thendoo, open Settings → Import, choose Trello and upload the file. The preview shows the board's lists, cards, checklists and labels, and you choose which Space the board lands in. Nothing is written until you confirm.
  3. 3Import. The board's lists become the statuses of one List, so the board keeps its shape. Cards keep their descriptions, dates, labels (as tags) and checklists; attachments come over as links, and comments stay in Trello.
  4. 4Running it again updates what changed without duplicates, and you can undo a whole import for 30 days. Old open due dates arrive as Carried over, not overdue.
  5. 5Connect Google Calendar in Connections so your meetings sit next to those tasks on Today.

Questions

Can I import my Trello boards into Thendoo today?

Yes. Export a board as JSON in Trello, then upload it in Settings → Import. You see a preview first, and you can undo the import for 30 days. Do this once for each board.

Does Thendoo have boards like Trello?

Yes, a Board view is one of the ways to see a List in Thendoo. Thendoo's home is still the Today timeline, which places tasks at a time of day rather than in a column.

Will Thendoo sync with Trello like it does with ClickUp?

Not today. A live Trello connection, with status and dates in both directions, is on the list of work tools to add on demand later. There is no date for it.
