The short answer
Notion is a flexible workspace of pages and databases that you shape into almost anything, with strong collaboration, AI and apps. Thendoo is a fixed-shape, single-user day planner: tasks, habits, calendar, focus and money already wired into one Today view. Choose Notion to build your own system or share a wiki; choose Thendoo if you would rather not build one.

Our take
Choose Notion if…
- You enjoy designing your own system and want databases, relations and views exactly your way.
- You share docs, wikis or projects with a team or family.
- You want AI help with writing, search or meeting notes.
Choose Thendoo if…
- You have tried building a planner in Notion and spent more time building than planning.
- You want habits, a focus timer and bill reminders working on day one, without setup.
- You want your calendar, tasks and time blocks to land on one daily timeline.
Built by you, or built for you
Notion gives you blocks, pages and databases and lets you assemble the system you want: a task tracker, a reading list, a team wiki, a CRM. That freedom is the reason many people love it. It is also why some people spend a weekend building a planner and then stop using it.
Thendoo makes the opposite trade. The shapes are fixed: Spaces hold Lists, Lists hold tasks, and everything with a time or a date flows into Today. You can add custom fields and statuses, but you can’t redesign the app.
Where the two really differ
Daily use. Thendoo opens on a timeline of your day, with a To schedule tray you drag tasks out of. Notion can show something similar if you build it. Notion Calendar puts database items next to your events.
Habits and focus. Thendoo has When/Then habits with forgiving streaks, timed routines, and a focus timer that adds minutes to a task’s tracked time. In Notion you would model these yourself or find a template.
Docs. Both have rich-text pages. Notion’s docs are the heart of the product, shared in real time with AI on top. Thendoo’s Docs are personal: slash commands, @ mentions of tasks and people, a daily note, and backlinks from [[wikilinks]]. The Meetings page can add a notes Doc written from a recording. Search covers titles only.
People and devices. Notion runs on desktop and mobile, works offline and is made for teams. Thendoo runs in the browser, opens Today, Inbox and Tasks offline after a sync, and is for one person.
Your data. Both let you export everything; Thendoo puts it in one file from Settings → Data.
The honest call
If you need to share, write together or design a custom database, Notion is the better fit. If you want a planner that’s ready the minute you sign in and keeps the day calm, Thendoo is worth trying. Plenty of people will keep notes in Notion and plan the day somewhere else.
Moving from Notion to Thendoo
- 1Decide what moves. Keep wikis and shared docs in Notion; move only your personal task lists and daily planning. Thendoo can import your own pages and task databases.
- 2In Notion, open the page you're moving, then ••• → Export → Markdown & CSV, and turn on Include subpages. Notion downloads a .zip (or emails a link for large exports).
- 3In Thendoo, open Settings → Import, choose Notion and upload the .zip. Pages become Docs with their sub-pages, and databases become Lists with status, done, tags, due date and priority mapped. Check the preview, then import.
- 4Images and files inside pages are not brought over, so copy the ones you need by hand. If you also keep notes in Obsidian, use Import Obsidian vault for those.
- 5Connect Google Calendar under Connections so meetings show on Today.
Questions
Can I import my Notion workspace?
Your own pages and task databases, yes. Export them from Notion as Markdown & CSV and upload the .zip in Settings → Import. Pages become Docs, databases become Lists, and you can undo the import for 30 days. Images and files stay behind, and shared team wikis are better left in Notion.
Is Thendoo a Notion replacement?
Only for personal planning. Thendoo has no shared pages, no databases you design yourself and no AI writing help, so team wikis are better left in Notion.
Can I use Notion for notes and Thendoo for my day?
Yes. They do not sync with each other, but both can read your Google Calendar, so meetings show in each.
