The short answer
Asana is a work management platform for teams: projects, timelines, goals, reporting, automations and AI, with web, desktop and phone apps. Thendoo is a browser-based, single-user day planner with tasks, habits, routines, a focus timer and money on one Today timeline. Asana answers who does what by when across a team; Thendoo answers what fits in your own day.

Our take
Choose Asana if…
- You coordinate projects across a team, with timelines, dependencies and reporting.
- You link daily work to company goals and need portfolios or workload views.
- You want the same tool on the web, desktop and phone, with AI built into the plan.
Choose Thendoo if…
- Your team uses Asana, but your own day still needs a plan that includes life outside work.
- You want habits, routines and bills next to your tasks on one timeline.
- You want a calm personal plan that sits next to your team's Asana, not instead of it.
Who each one is for
Asana is built for teams that need to know who is doing what, by when, and how it adds up. Projects, timelines, portfolios, goals and reporting are its core, and recent plans add AI agents and automation. Teams in operations, marketing and product use it to run work across many people.
Thendoo is built for one person’s day. Today shows your Google Calendar meetings, your time blocks, your Top 3 today, your habits and the bills due soon, all on one timeline. It is calm by design, with ADHD support built in, which means short plans, a tiny first step and no red overdue lists.
Where they genuinely differ
Team or person. Asana shines when many people share a plan. Thendoo has no sharing at all, on purpose for now.
The day itself. Asana’s My Tasks list shows what is assigned to you. Thendoo goes one step further and asks when you will do each one, with Plan my day and time blocks next to your meetings.
Life outside work. Thendoo includes When/Then habits, timed routines, a focus timer and money. Asana focuses on work.
Devices. Asana has apps for the desktop and phones. Thendoo runs in a browser.
Moving between them
You don’t have to choose all at once. Keep shared projects in Asana, where your teammates can see them. Each Monday, look at My Tasks, decide which few things really belong to this week, and capture just those into Thendoo with a date and a Space. When an Asana importer ships, it is meant to do this step for whole projects, with a preview first and an undo for 30 days.
When each is the better choice
Choose Asana to run team projects, track goals and report progress. Choose Thendoo if your work lives in a team tool but your day still feels like a scramble. Most people in that spot keep Asana for the team and use Thendoo for the plan, copying across only what they will work on this week.
Moving from Asana to Thendoo
- 1An Asana importer is planned for the second wave of importers, not available yet. The plan is a CSV export first, then Asana's API where the file lacks data.
- 2As planned, it brings projects, sections, tasks, subtasks and custom fields. You choose a Space per project and map statuses before anything is written.
- 3Re-running is meant to bring over only what changed, with no duplicates. A whole import can be undone for 30 days.
- 4Until then, keep team work in Asana. Capture into Thendoo only the tasks you will do this week (Ctrl+K / ⌘K), each with a date and a Space.
- 5Thendoo's general CSV importer works today: upload an Asana CSV in Settings → Import and match the columns (title, notes, due date, status and so on). Tasks come in flat, without Asana's sections and subtasks.
Questions
Can Thendoo import my Asana projects?
Not with a dedicated importer yet; one is planned for the second wave. Today, the general CSV importer can bring in an Asana CSV as flat tasks, where you match the columns yourself, or you can copy only the tasks you are working on now.
Is Thendoo a replacement for Asana?
For a team, no. Thendoo is single-user and has no sharing, goals or portfolios. It works best as the personal layer for one person's day.
Will Asana tasks sync into Thendoo like ClickUp tasks do?
Not yet. A live Asana connection is on the list of work tools to add on demand later, with no date. ClickUp is the work tool that syncs today.
