GitLab and Thendoo integration (planned)
GitLab is not connected to Thendoo yet. Read how planned GitLab issues and merge requests would become tasks on Today, and what to do until then.
How often: Not syncing yet. This integration is planned.
What syncs
- Planned: issues assigned to youInto Thendoo
- Planned: merge requests that need your reviewInto Thendoo
- Planned: closing a task when its merge request closesInto Thendoo
Set it up
- 1There is nothing to set up yet. GitLab is not listed in Settings, then Connections, because the connection has not been built.
- 2Until then, capture each merge request you need to review as a task: press Ctrl K (⌘K on a Mac), type a short name and a day, and keep the GitLab link in the notes.
Good to know
- GitLab is not available in Thendoo today. Thendoo reads nothing from your projects or groups.
- Self-managed GitLab servers have not been designed for in detail yet. Whether they will be supported is still open.
GitLab is planned for Thendoo, not available yet. What follows is the current design, and it may change.
The idea
Your team tracks issues and merge requests in GitLab. Thendoo would not try to replace any of that. Instead, it would put the GitLab work that is waiting on you into the To schedule tray, so you can see it next to your meetings and decide when it happens.
GitLab and GitHub are planned together, in the same connected-apps milestone, and are meant to behave the same way.
What it is meant to bring in
- Issues assigned to you.
- Merge requests where you are a reviewer.
- A link from any Thendoo task to an issue or merge request.
When a merge request is merged or closed, the linked task in Thendoo can close too, so you don’t end the day with a list of things that are already done.
Who owns what
GitLab keeps owning the title, description, labels, milestones and discussion. Thendoo only owns your time: when you review, when you code, and when you stop. That matches the rule Thendoo follows for every work tool.
Meanwhile
A simple routine helps. At the start of the day, open your GitLab to-do list, capture the reviews you will actually do today, and drag them onto free slots on Today. Anything you don’t get to rolls forward as “Carried over”, with no red overdue list.
Troubleshooting
- GitLab is missing from Connections.
- It is planned, not built, so that is expected. Only Google Calendar and ClickUp can be connected today.
- My copied merge request tasks go stale.
- Keep copies few and short-lived. Capture only the reviews you plan to do in the next day or two, and tick them off right after you approve or comment.
