The short answer

Sunsama and Thendoo share a belief: plan the day on purpose, then close it on purpose. Sunsama connects to far more tools (Asana, Jira, Notion, Todoist, Gmail, Slack and more), reads Google, Outlook and Apple calendars, and has apps for every platform. Thendoo connects only to Google Calendar and ClickUp and runs in a browser, but adds habits, routines and money.

Our take

Choose Sunsama if…

  • Your work arrives from several tools (Jira, Asana, Gmail, Slack) and you want it pulled into one daily plan.
  • You use Outlook or Apple Calendar, or need phone and desktop apps.
  • You want a planner focused on the workday.

Choose Thendoo if…

  • You want the daily ritual to cover life outside work too: habits, routines, bills and renewals.
  • Your work tools are Google Calendar and ClickUp.
  • You want a planner you can try free today, with habits and bills on the same day as your work.

Shared belief, different reach

Sunsama is a daily planner for professionals. Its rhythm is a morning planning ritual, timeboxing on the calendar, focus mode, and a shutdown ritual that ends the workday on time. Its strength is reach: it pulls tasks from more than a dozen work tools and email, and it runs on every major platform.

Thendoo shares the rhythm. Plan my day opens with “About ten minutes: look at the day, pick what matters, give it a time.” Close the day ends with “Nothing is lost. Rest well.” And the Weekly review asks you to choose next week’s big rocks without judging what slipped.

Where they part ways

Inputs. Sunsama gathers work from Asana, Jira, Linear, Notion, Todoist, Gmail, Slack and more. Thendoo connects to Google Calendar and ClickUp, and everything else goes through its own capture palette or Inbox. If your work is spread over many tools, this is the biggest difference.

Life outside work. Thendoo’s Today also carries When/Then habits, bills due within seven days, and a separate tab for timed routines. Its money module imports bank CSVs and tracks budgets. Sunsama keeps its focus on the workday.

Gentleness. Both are calm. Thendoo goes further on wording: past tasks are Carried over · no rush, and ADHD mode cuts the tray to three items with bigger buttons.

Devices. Sunsama has phone and desktop apps; Thendoo is a browser app with reminders that appear only while a tab is open.

Picking one

If you need a planner that gathers work from many tools across all your devices, Sunsama is the stronger fit. If your tools are Google Calendar and ClickUp, and you want one ritual that covers your whole life, not only work, Thendoo is worth a week’s trial. Run the same morning and evening ritual in each for five working days, and keep the one you still open on day five.

Moving from Sunsama to Thendoo

  1. 1Write down which Sunsama integrations you use. Only Google Calendar and ClickUp connect to Thendoo today; plan for the rest to stay in their own tools.
  2. 2Connect Google Calendar and, if you use it, ClickUp under Connections. Assigned ClickUp tasks arrive in the To schedule tray.
  3. 3Re-add personal tasks by hand with the Capture palette (Ctrl+K / ⌘K). Thendoo has no Sunsama importer.
  4. 4Recreate your weekly objectives as a note in the Weekly review's Big rocks for next week.
  5. 5Try Plan my day in the morning and Close the day in the evening for one week before deciding.

Questions

Does Thendoo pull tasks from Gmail or Slack like Sunsama?

No. Thendoo connects only to Google Calendar and ClickUp today. You capture anything else with the Capture palette or the Inbox.

Is Thendoo's shutdown the same as Sunsama's?

Similar in spirit. Close the day lets you mark each task Done, move it to Tomorrow or Leave it, write one line about tomorrow, and optionally roll unfinished tasks forward every night.

Does Thendoo track how much time I spent?

Yes, per task. A start/stop timer, manual time logs and focus sessions add up against the task's estimate, and Insights shows estimated against actual time for the week.

Give your brain one place to look.

Set up your first Today in about five minutes. Connect a calendar, add three things, start a focus session.
