A list on every screen
Any.do has been around for years as a simple to-do list. Today it also has a calendar, a daily planner called My Day, reminders and widgets, and it runs almost everywhere: phones, tablets, watches, desktops, browser extensions and the web. The free Personal plan covers tasks, lists, reminders, the calendar and sync. Premium adds recurring tasks, location and WhatsApp reminders, AI features and colour tags. Family and Teams plans add shared spaces and boards.
Thendoo is narrower and deeper. It runs only in a browser, for one person. Its home is Today: a timeline where your Google Calendar meetings, your planned tasks, your When/Then habits and bills due soon sit together. Instead of a long list, you see how much time is actually free.
Where they differ
Reach. Any.do is the clear winner on devices and sharing. If you need a reminder on your watch, or a grocery list your partner can tick off, Any.do does that and Thendoo doesn’t.
Planning style. Any.do’s My Day helps you choose what to do today. Thendoo goes one step further and asks when: you drag tasks from the To schedule tray onto free slots, around your meetings. People with time blindness often find the timeline makes the day feel real.
Repeating tasks. Thendoo includes them for everyone. On Any.do, recurring tasks are part of Premium.
Beyond tasks. Thendoo adds habits with forgiving streaks, step-by-step routines, a focus timer and a simple money module with budgets and bills. We did not find these on Any.do’s pages, so we left them as unverified.
Missed days. Thendoo never shows a red overdue list. Old tasks are marked Carried over, and you choose what to do with them.
Picking one
For a free list that follows you to every device, or one you share at home or at work, Any.do is a strong choice. If you want a day plan for one person that includes habits and money, try Thendoo for a week. Plan each morning, close each evening, and see which one you keep reaching for.
Moving from Any.do to Thendoo
- 1Pick the lists you actually use. Moving only active tasks is often quicker than moving everything.
- 2In Thendoo, create a Space for each area of life and a List for each Any.do list you keep.
- 3Re-add open tasks with the Capture palette (Ctrl+K / ⌘K), with a date and #Space in the same line.
- 4Thendoo has no Any.do importer. If you have your tasks in a CSV or Excel file, Thendoo's general importer (Settings → Import) brings in the rows with a column-mapping step, as flat tasks.
- 5Connect Google Calendar under Connections so meetings show on Today.
Questions
Can Thendoo send reminders to my phone like Any.do?
Not yet. Thendoo has no phone app and no push notifications today, so its reminders show only while a Thendoo tab is open.
Can I share a grocery list with my family in Thendoo?
No. Thendoo is single-user today. Any.do's Family plan is built for that.
Will Thendoo import my Any.do tasks?
There is no Any.do importer. Thendoo's general CSV importer can read a table of tasks, where you match the columns yourself, so a CSV of your Any.do tasks would work that way. Otherwise, move your active tasks by hand.
