Our take

Choose Microsoft To Do if…

  • Your mail and calendar are in Outlook, and you want tasks right next to them.
  • You like starting each day by building a short My Day list.
  • You share lists with family or coworkers who also use Microsoft apps.

Choose Thendoo if…

  • Your calendar is Google, and you want tasks placed on it as time blocks.
  • You want habits, routines, a focus timer and bills on the same timeline.
  • Missed tasks stress you, and you want them shown as Carried over.

Who each one is for

Microsoft To Do is a clean to-do list from Microsoft. Its best-known idea is My Day: each morning you pick what you want to focus on from your lists. It works inside Outlook, so a task can sit right next to the email it came from and can be dragged onto your Outlook calendar.

Thendoo builds on the same instinct, a short list for today, and adds the clock. Today shows your Google Calendar meetings, time blocks, Top 3 today, habits and bills on one timeline. It is calm by design, with ADHD support built in: a tiny first step to get started and no red overdue lists.

Where they genuinely differ

Calendars. To Do lives in the Microsoft world. Thendoo reads Google Calendar today; Outlook is only a candidate for later. This alone may decide it for you.

From list to time. My Day is a list. Thendoo turns the list into a plan, with each task placed between meetings and Close the day moving leftovers to tomorrow as Carried over.

Beyond tasks. Thendoo adds When/Then habits, timed routines, a focus timer and money.

Sharing. To Do lets you share lists. Thendoo is one person only.

Try it for a week

You can test the idea without moving anything. Keep your lists in To Do, and for one week plan each day in Thendoo instead of My Day. Pick three tasks, give each a time next to your meetings, and let Close the day carry over what’s left. If the timeline helps, move your other lists across later. Nothing in To Do changes while you try.

When each is the better choice

Choose Microsoft To Do if your day runs on Outlook. Choose Thendoo if you use Google Calendar and want one place that plans the day, not only lists it. If you switch later, the planned importer is meant to bring your lists across with their steps and repeat rules.

Moving from Microsoft To Do to Thendoo

  1. 1A Microsoft To Do importer is planned for the second wave of importers, not available yet. As planned, it signs in through Microsoft Graph rather than reading a file.
  2. 2It is meant to bring lists, tasks, steps, due dates and repeat rules. A repeat rule that cannot be copied exactly is flagged in the import report, never changed quietly.
  3. 3You preview first and choose a Space per list. Re-running adds no duplicates, and a whole import can be undone for 30 days.
  4. 4A two-way Microsoft To Do connection is planned later too, for people who want to keep their lists there.
  5. 5Until then, re-type only this week's tasks with Capture (Ctrl+K / ⌘K) and connect Google Calendar if you use it.

Questions

Can Thendoo read my Outlook calendar?

Not today. Thendoo reads Google Calendar only. Outlook calendar support is a candidate for a later phase, with no date.

Can I import my Microsoft To Do lists?

Not yet. An importer that signs in with your Microsoft account is planned for the second wave of importers.

Is My Day the same as Thendoo's Today?

They share an idea, a short list for today. Thendoo's Today also shows your meetings and gives each task a time, with habits and bills alongside.

Give your brain one place to look.

Set up your first Today in about five minutes. Connect a calendar, add three things, start a focus session.
